Jammu, Sep 28: In a first of its kind incident, a family killed a militant and injured another, apart from seizing two AK rifles from the three militants who barged into their house.
The incident took place in Shahdra Sharief area at around 21:30 on Sunday, Sep 27 night, Senior Superintendent of Police Shafkat Wattali informed.
The militants reportedly broke into the house when the family did not answer their calls. After entering, the men started beating up the head of the family, Ahmed and opened fire.
Provoked by this, Ahmed's son Aijaz attacked one of the militants with an axe injuring him. The other members of the family too launched attacks against the militants with sticks and sharp-edged weapons.
However, two militants including the one who was injured managed to flee before the police could arrive at the spot.
According to some media reports, the militant killed in this scuffle was a top Lashkar commander, identified as Uzafa Shah. Shah who is a Pakistani National had been operating in Rajouri-Poonch districts for years now.
