Bangalore, Sep 27:Nearly 100 Congress leaders, who were trying to enter Vidhana Soudha violating prohibitory orders as a part of their protest against BJP government were arrested.

A large number of leaders and legislators led by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) RV Deshpande, leaders of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and the Council, Siddaramaiah and V S Ugrappa respectively, and KPCC working president D K Shivakumar, were stopped when they tried entering the Vidhana Soudha forcefully.

The arrested leaders sat for an indefinite dharna before the building of the City Armed Reserve Police at Audugodi where they were lodged.

Despite objections from the police, Deshapande along with few Youth Congress and National Students Union of India State unit members marched towards the Vidhana Soudha.

However, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yedurappa said that Congress protest was without any reason and it hampered the Dasara mood.

He termed the Congress protest a 'conspiracy' and said the Opposition was jealous of the progress of BJP government.

However, Siddaramaiah accused the government of preventing the legislators from attending a Congress Legislature Party meeting scheduled in the Vidhana Soudha.
