Franklin to replace injured Oram in Champions Trophy

By Super Admin

Johannesburg, Sep 26(ANI): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allowed the New Zealand team to include fast bowler James Franklin in place of injured all-rounder Jacob Oram for the Champions Trophy being held in South Africa.

Franklin, who was playing for Gloucestershire in a four-day county championship match against Kent, was called to report immediately ahead of New Zealand's second match against Sri Lanka on Sunday, the NZPA reports.

Franklin has been recalled in the side after Oram pulled his hamstring during a training session before New Zealand's first game against South Africa, due to which he had to miss the game.

The left-arm medium-fast bowler has been in stupendous form lately, in the four-day county match against Kent he took five wickets for 30 runs to restrict Kent to 264 and then scored an unbeaten century, which helped Gloucestershire to score a decent first-innings total of 439 for five. (ANI)
