CSIR selects eleven scientists for Bhatnagar Award

New Delhi, Sep 26 (ANI): Eleven scientists have been selected for this year's prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for Science and Technology research by the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

The CSIR instituted the award in memory of the eminent Indian Scientist Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar. The award is given to the scientists below 45 years of age in recognition of their outstanding research conducted in India during the last five years.

Director General of CSIR and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Prof. Sameer Brahmchari announced the names of the awardees at the foundation day function of the CSIR, in New Delhi on Saturday.

The prize comprises a citation and cash award of 5 lakh rupees.

The awardees are Dr. Amitabh Joshi of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research Bangalore.

Dr. Bhaskar Saha of National Centre of Cell Science, Pune.

Dr. Charu Sitha chakravarty and Dr. Narayan Swami Jayaraman of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Dr. S.K. Satheesh, Dr. Giridhar and Dr. Jayantrama Swami of Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore.

Dr. Venapalli Suresh of University of Hyderabad.

Dr, Santosh Gajanan Hunawar of L V Prasad Eye institute of Hyderabad.

Dr. Rajesh Gopal Kumar of Harishchandra Research Institute, Allahabad.

Dr. Abhishek Dhar of Raman Research Institute, Bangalore. (ANI)
