Bhupinder Hooda says Congress party would win Assembly elections

Chandigarh, Sep 26 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that his party would win the Assembly elections with a thumping majority.

Filing his nomination papers from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi assembly constituency in Rohtak district for the October 13 polls, Hooda who is also a senior leader of Congress party exuded confidence that his party would storm to power with thumping majority.

"The trends are in favour of Congress Party. I am confident that our party will do a clean sweep in upcoming assembly elections," he added.

Hooda also informed that his party would release the election manifesto in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, Hooda's rival Om Prakash Chautala who heads the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD addressed a mass rally at Jind.

He projected his party as an outfit that values democracy in the true spirit.

The single-phased elections will be held for 90 assembly seats in Haryana on October 13.

Congress won 67 assembly seats out of 90 in the last assembly elections held in 2005.

Earlier, in the month, the BJP snapped its ties with the INLD.

The BJP- INLD alliance had swept the 1999 assembly polls in Haryana and ruled the state for five years. But in the 2005 elections, INLD lost its majority, winning just nine out of the 90. (ANI)
