Umar Akmal's injury not serious, will play against India

By Super Admin

Islamabad, Sep.25 (ANI): The Pakistani cricket team management has clarified that middle order batsman Umar Akmal's hand injury that he sustained during the match against West Indies is not serious, and that he would definitely play in the game against India on Saturday.

Team manager Yawar Saeed told PakPassion.net from Johannesburg that Akmal's injury was not serious.

"Umar is ok, the medical team has looked at the injury and he will definitely play against India. We are all relieved that Umar is fine, as it could have been a very serious injury that he sustained had the ball smashed into an unprotected part of his hand,' Saeed said.

Akmal was hit on the hand by a beamer from West Indian fast bowler Tino Best during the ICC Champions Trophy match which Pakistan won by five wickets.

Saeed said Pakistani cricketers were eagerly waiting for the encounter with arch-rivals India.

"The boys are in good spirits and looking forward to Saturday's encounter against India," he said. (ANI)
