Islamabad, Sep.23 (ANI): At least six Taliban fighters were killed and 21 others surrendered to Pakistani security forces during raids and search operations in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) in the last 24 hours.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces nabbed three extremists including one of the top Taliban commanders Muhammad Amin Qari during raids in the Swat Valley.
During their search operation, the troops also discovered a five-meter-long tunnel inside a militant hideout.
In the Lower Dir region, three militants were arrested and a huge cache of arms and explosives were recovered, Xinhua reported.
The Pakistan Army claims that it has killed about 1,700 Taliban fighters since it began an all out offensive against the extremists in April. (ANI)
