Sweets, prayers mark Eid celebrations in India
New Delhi, Sep 21: Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims is celebrated throughout the country with fervour and enthusiasm.
Eid marks the end of month-long fasting of Ramzan.
Lakhs of Muslims assembled at various mosques in the national capital, including the historic Jama Masjid, to offer prayers seeking peace, progress and prosperity.
All clad in new clothes greeted each other and exchanged gifts.
Eid special sweet dishes such as 'sewayian', made of vermicelli, were also offered.
However, police security was tightened to avoid mishaps.
