Melbourne, September 21 (ANI): Queensland's mums are presently involved in a fashion war that takes place at school gates.

The sides are apparently divided into "slummy mummys" who wear pyjamas and tracksuit pants, and the "yummy mummys" with heavy style quotient wearing designer denim and expensive sunglasses.

The mothers apparently showcase their rivalry everyday before and after-school drop-off at school gate.

However, the flurry of words happens on the net at superkawaiimama.com fashion blog.

"As a fellow Aussie school gate mum, I avoid the dreaded trackie (except for cleaning the bathroom) at all costs," the Courier Mail quoted a mother as writing.

"Other mums will often stare or say, 'Why are you so dressed up?' I usually ignore them and smile. In future, I'll inquire why they are so dressed down," she added.

Another wrote: "I am so tired of seeing mums in nothing but beige capri pants and polo tops from Myer's 'mummy' division! Just because you're a mother doesn't mean you have to lose your own identity or fashion sense!"

Mothers at Brisbane private school St Margaret's Anglican Girls School in Ascot said that the competition was apparent.

Marisa Clayton, mother of a pupil said: "There is a bit of competition, the ladies certainly know brands. If I've got daggy house shoes on, I change them before coming."

However, some mothers don't seem to care.

Rhonda Martin at St Margaret's gates said: "I don't dress to impress."

Also, personal trainer Patrice Pheely revealed that her daughters were generally bothered about her wearing gym gear.

She said: "I come here in my gym gear and they say, 'What are you doing here? You look like a dag'. " (ANI)
