Police thwart plot to assassinate NWFP minister
Islamabad, Sep. 21 (ANI): A suicide attack on the Education Minister of Pakistan's North Western Frontier Province was thwarted by police on Monday.
Four militants attempted to assassinate Sardar Hussain Babak. The fierce gun battle ended with a teenage suicide bomber blowing himself up, the Daily Express reports.
Police sprang into action after receiving a tip-off that insurgents had gathered in a government high school in NFWP and planned to kill Babak.
During the confrontation, a loud explosion rocked the building and three of the men escaped, including one who was wounded.
The suicide attack is the latest in a string of violent events in Pakistan.
Earlier, over 30 people were killed in a suicide attack in Kohat. (ANI)
