SC extends stay on Lucknow memorial construction
New Delhi, Sep 18: Asserting that the government does not have the right to misuse public funds to establish memorials, the Supreme Court on Friday, Sep 18 refused to remove the stay on further construction.
The bench expressed dissatisfaction over UP government's plea on the alleged violation of an undertaking for stoppage of work at Kanshi Ram Memorial Sthal in Lucknow and said that the stay on construction activities will continue.
During the brief hearing the apex court asked the he state government to work under the Constitution and observed, "The question here has many, many burning issues."
