India's global IT competitiveness ranking at 44
Helsinki, Sep 18: India's ranking in the global IT competitiveness index has risen from 48 to 44, while United States continues to sustain the top ranking.
In the survey conducted by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) assessing up to 66 nations, US was following by Finland, Sweden, Canada and Netherlands in the top five spots.
The evaluation is based on the quality of the local technology infrastructure, the availability and quality of IT talent, the innovation environment, the legal regime, the business environment, and government technology policies, EIU said.
While Taiwan saw the biggest decline from rank 2 to 15, other countries like South Korea, Switzerland and Denmark too saw a dip in the ranking.
China jumped from 50th slot to 39th and Russia from 49th to 38th, due to the improving R&D environment and also human capital.
