Pune: Woman dies of H1N1, toll up to 44
Pune, Sep 16: The H1N1 flu claimed life of a 30-year-old woman from Ghorpade on Tuesday, Sep 15, taking the death toll to 44 in Pune.
Ashok Mehta, joint director of health services said, "Sharada Fulpati had developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and died at the ICU of the Sahyadri-Munot hospital at 9:45 am."
The woman was admitted to the hospital on Sep 12 in critical condition with symptoms of cough, fever and breathlessness, he said.
She tested positive for the Swine Flu on Monday, Sep 14, he said, adding that the woman did not have any underlying medical condition.
Three educational institutions in the district have reported positive cases.
