Karachi, Sep.15 (ANI): Pakistan cricket team's batting advisor Javed Miandad is determined to see the team win the ICC Champions Trophy and is thus making the players toil hard during the ongoing training camp.

"A 50-over match means you have to be on the field for at least seven hours and the way I am training these players is to prepare them for the conditions in South Africa," The Daily Times quoted Miandad, as saying.

Miandad is spending extra time with players like Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik and also with young batting sensation Umar Akmal.

Miandad's innovative coaching technique has already sparked much debate with several former players and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials having their own view regarding his 'green' practice wicket idea.

Miandad has asked pitch curators to prepare a green and pacy surface at the Gaddafi Stadium to prepare batsmen for the bouncy South African wickets.

Miandad has ordered a new pitch with a tinge of green grass covering on it in order to give batsmen the feel of South African conditions where the ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to commence from September 22.

"The idea is to get the batsmen to play on surfaces similar to those in South Africa. Cricket is all in the mind and if a player is mentally focused, he can succeed anywhere," Miandad said. ANI)
