New Delhi, Sep 14: Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor was not surprised at former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf"s admission that the US military aid given to Pakistan was used against India instead of fighting terror on Pakistan"s borders.
"We know Pakistan has been misusing US aid for years. I am not surprised by former President Musharraf"s statement," said Tharoor.
"This confirms India"s stand on the misuse of aid. The United States should monitor aid given to Pakistan more carefully."
Tharoor"s response came after Gen (Retd) Musharraf in an interview to a news channel admitted that he defied use of military aid rules.
However, he justified his action, saying he 'acted in the best interest of Pakistan.'
Musharraf added that he would not be bothered at US's displeasure at this disclosure.
He confessed that he stopped supporting the US after Sep 2001 attacks.
