US Open: Paes, Black lose in mixed doubles final

By Super Admin

New York, Sep 11: India's ace Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe were defeated by Americans Travis Parrott and Carly Gullickson in the mixed doubles final of the US Open tennis tournament here, on Thursday, Sep 10.

Paes and Black lost straight sets 2-6, 4-6 against the local favourites in just 66 minutes. Cara Black in particular proved to be the weak link as she did not manage to hold her serve for even a single time.

Paes still has a chance to bring home the trophy when he plays with Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy against Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles in the men's doubles final on Friday, Sep 11.

Paes and Black had put up an impressive performance coming into the final, but they lost their touch in the all-important match.
