Nithari case: HC acquits Pandher
Allahabad, Sep 11: Moninder Singh Pandher has been acquitted by the Allahabad High Court on Friday, Sep 11, in the infamous Nithari Killings case involving the murder of Rimpa Haldar.

The high court dismissed lower court's judgement against Pandher sentencing him to death. However, the death punishment of Pandher's domestic help Surinder Koli was upheld.

Fourteen-year-old Rimpa was one of the 19 victims whose skeletons were exhumed near Pandher's residence at Nithari, in Noida four years ago. Rimpa was murdered on February 8, 2005

Pandher is still accused of 18 other murders that happened at his residence.

Earlier, both Pandher and Koli were given a death sentence for raping and murdering Rimpa. The lower court had declared them guilty in Feb 2009 under various sections of the IPC for murder, rape, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.
