Inflation rises to minus 0.12 percent
New Delhi, Sep 10: Inflation rose marginally to minus 0.12 pc for the week ended Aug 29 from minus 0.21 pc in the previous week due to a hike in prices of food and other household items.
The wholesale price index (WPI) remained negative for the 13th consecutive week primarily on high base.
Inflation in corresponding week last year was 12.38 pc.
Sources said that the annual inflation, based on WPI is likely to enter into the positive zone in the next couple of weeks.
Prices of fruits, vegetables and milk rose by 1 pc each while eggs became expensive by 4 pc, sea fish rose by 2 pc and soyabean oil rose 3 pc.
Meanwhile, among the household items, laundry soaps became expensive by 35 per cent, detergents by 17 pc and toilet soap and toothpaste by 6 pc each.
