London, Sep 7: After Australia, a racial attack against Indian has been reported from the United Kingdom. An old man of Indian-origin was reportedly attacked by a gang of teenagers in south London and presently battling for his life in a hospital.
67-year-old Ekram ul Haque was thrashed brutally in front of his five year old granddaughter by three boys, aged 12, 14 and 15 while returning from the local south London mosque, police said.
The granddaughter who was unhurt in the Aug 31 incident was able to recollect the attack and give the details. The police have confirmed that the assault was racially motivated.
The teenagers who have been charged with assaulting Haque, are also being linked with attempted assaults on two other elderly South Asians in Tooting about a week ago.
The victim is in a critical condition and the doctors handling his case have said that the man has no chance of survival.
