Beckham looks forward to taking part in 2012 Olympics

By Super Admin

London, Sep 6(ANI): England football star David Beckham has said he would now like to actively take part in football during the London Olympics.

"I was very proud to play a part in bringing the Olympics to London. It was such a great thrill when we were awarded them. So, to go on to be a part of 2012 itself, will be just terrific," News of the World quoted Beckham, as saying.

"I would certainly love to be involved with the Great Britain football team. Obviously, I would be very much an 'older' player by then, but I definitely want to be involved there in some capacity," he added.

Under current rules, Beckham is free to be the captain and play for Team GB even though he will be 37 in 2012.

Meanwhile, the Football Association (FA) has said they hope to announce the GB team's manager by the end of the year with Fulham boss Roy Hodgson emerging as the favourite. (ANI)
