BJP leaders meet to discuss Assembly elections
New Delhi, Sep 2: As an effort to bring some unity to the party, BJP chief Rajnath Singh invited top leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely and others for lunch at his residence on Tuesday, Sep 1 to discuss the upcoming Assembly elections.
This was the first time these BJP leaders met since Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS chief's intervention in the party.
Venkaiah Naidu initimated the party members of how Raje was feeling ill when she was supposed to meet him. The party decided to wait for Raje's resignation till she got better.
Meanwhile, Sushma Swaraj discussed her meeting with the expelled leader Jaswant Singh, who had refused to step down as the Public Accounts Committee chairman.
Plans to start campaigning for the assembly election was discussed and Friday, Sep 4, the date for the next party meeting was fixed to discuss the candidates of the election.
