Bhopal: Digvijay Singh injured in lathicharge
Rajgarh, Sep 2: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh sustained injuries on the left side of his head in police lathicharge during a demonstration staged by the Youth Congress to protest power crisis in Rajgarh of Bhopal on Tuesday, Sep 1.
Singh was admitted to district hospital where two stitches were applied during the treatment, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashok Awasthi told news agency.
Awasthi claimed that Singh was injured due to stone pelting by the Congress activists, but the Congress alleged the leader was injured in police lathicharge.
"Youth Congress activists went out of control and after breaking the lock of the main gate of the Collectorate, they also ransacked the glass pane of the office and indulged in stone pelting injuring 16 policemen and eight activists," Awasthi added.
