New Delhi, Sep 1: India grabbed the Nehru Cup for the second time in a row by defeating Syria again in the finals. The defending champions beat Syria 6-5 in a penalty shootout.
The tie breaker was called in when 120 minutes match ended at a score of one all.

India's Goal keeper Subrata Paul performed outstandingly by blocking three penalty shots of the opponents to clinch the 'Man of the Match' title.
With this win, India bagged USD 40,000 along with prompting the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to announce a reward of Rs 2 lakhs for each player of the team.
By winning the cup for the second time in a row, Indian team under coach Bob Houghton became the third team in the history of the tournament to have defended the title, after USSR and Iraq.
