Special cars at Rly stations for disabled
New Delhi, Aug 28: The Indian Railway Ministry has decided to provide battery-operated cars to facilitate the disabled and senior passengers at major stations.
A senior Railway Ministry official said that, this free service will be available around the clock. And the railways will provide the electricity for charging the batteries of the vehicles.
Under certain terms and conditions Zonal railways will be selecting the private operators who will be running the vehicles. The operators will be allowed to advertise on the panel of these small four seater cars.
The official added that the ministry is right now working on how the selection of the operators can be done and the possibility of revenue sharing.
