New Delhi, Aug 25: The crisis in the Bharatiya Janata Party deepened further on Monday, Aug 24 as former minister Arun Shourie made an attack on party president Rajnath Singh, calling him 'Alice in Blunderland' and describing the party leadership as 'Humpty Dumpty'.
In an exclusive interview to NDTV, Shourie said, "The BJP today is like a kati patang (kite without a string). Unless it"s got hold of swiftly...I don"t see people within the party who now have such authority.... If anybody can do it, it"s the RSS. There would be other consequences (but) I"ve been pleading with them...You stay out of policy matters but you (RSS) watch conduct of individuals."
He also said the party leaders were indulging in "mutual protection and projection. The party's moral authority had depleted owing to involvement in cases like the cash-for-query scam."
BJP sources said they were "expecting such behaviour from Shourie, since he was not expecting the party to nominate him for another term in the Rajya Sabha."
