Kolkata, Aug 24: In a condolence meeting for the late CPM leader Subhas Chakraborty on Sunday, Aug 23, the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya expressed his doubts about Mamata Banerjee's performance as the railway minister.

The attack was the result of State transport minister Ranjit Kundu's claim of not being properly invited to the inauguration of Metro railway service from Tollygunge to Garia on Saturday, Aug 22.

"What is happening in the railways? Every day, new trains are being announced. But look at the railways itself. It is in the same hapless state," said Bhattacharya.

“The extended Metro service was inaugurated on Saturday, but the transport minister didn't attend it. The state government took the initiative and spent money on the project. Is this a tamasha?"

After the inaugural event the CPM leaders said that the party's contribution to the Metro Project has not been recognized.

"A mockery is being made of our freedom fighters and cultural luminaries. Their pictures were splashed all over. Opposition parties are making a tamasha of everything," said the CM.

CPM is now busy with the preparations for the Aug 31 golden jubilee of the food movement in the Brigade Parade ground. The food movement was a deciding factor in CPM's leadership in the state in 1960's. When alive, Subhas Chakraborty was the main organizing force in celebrating the movement.
