Rahul Gandhi who chose to take a different path from that of his mother who chooses not to critise the state government cited the example of the proposed Hindustan Paper Mill in Amethi.
"Around Rs 3,000 crore will be invested in the project, which will provide employment to over 25,000 people. The UP government says there is no land available, but I am sure that no resident of Amethi would hesitate in giving up his land for development," he said speaking at the inauguration of a Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited unit at Jagdishpur.
He said that the plan promises the farmers, whose land was acquired for the project, a compensatory job in the industry.
Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Vilasrao Deshmukh who was also present at the ceremony said, "Everything is ready to set up the Hindustan Paper Mill. Once the state government gives us land, we can start work within eight days."
He also revealed that he has personally written a letter to the state government to facilitate this process of land acquisition which got no response.
