New Delhi, Aug 18: After disagreeing with Jaswant Singh's comment on Jinnah, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders chose to stay away from the former foreign minister's book launch to making their disapproval more evident.

Jaswant Singh launched the book 'Jinnah: India-Partition Independence" on Monday, Aug 17 at an event that saw no BJP leader other than party headquarters in-charge Shyam Jaju.

Commenting on the issue, Sushma Swaraj said, “To glorify Jinnah and to blame Sardar Vallabhai Patel for partition is against the ethos of BJP."

Apart from BJP, RSS too expressed disapproval over Jaswant Singh's praise of Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

"I have only read excerpts of the book. But I am constrained to say that it is far from the truth to state that Jinnah was not responsible for partition," RSS leader Ram Madhav was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

Singh blames Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhai Patel for the India- Pakistan Partition and contends that Jinnah had been wronged.

A similar controversy was born in 2005 with L K Advani's 'Jinnah-is-secular' comment.
