Benazir Bhutto's guard denied entry to President's House in Islamabad

Lahore, Aug 18(ANI): The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leadership has again abandoned a party loyalist and the injured guard of slain party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto who was denied entrance to the President's House.

Salim, who was injured in the December 27 Liaqat Bagh attack on Bhutto, was assured of a meeting with party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, to address his grievances by senior Minister Raja Riaz and PPP Lahore President Chaudhry Asghar.

However, Salim, who is confined to a wheelchair, was taken aback when on reaching Islamabad he was denied entrance to the Presidency and was told by the protocol officials that no request of meeting had been sent by the PPP leaders to the president, The News reports.alim Khan said that he had set up a protest camp on The Mall to draw attention of party leaders, who had deserted him after the tragedy.

The PPP leaders had requested him to remove his protest camp, and had assured him that he would be taken to the President's House in Islamabad, as per his demand.

He informed that some financial assistance was provided to his family in the beginning for his medication, as he had spent several months in hospital.

Salim Khan also informed that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had promised him of financial aid, which he and his family are waiting till date. (ANI)
