Islamabad, Aug.17 (ANI): US President Brack Obama's Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Holbrooke, has told the Pakistani leadership that as far as Washington is concerned, former President-General Pervez Musharraf is history.
In an interaction with former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif at the Punjab House here, Holbrooke said that the United States would not create any hurdle in the way of the Pakistani parliament to put Musharraf on trial for acts of treason against the state.
"Former president Pervez Musharraf has become part of history. US will never support him. The Parliament has every right to put him to trial on his unconstitutional actions. The US will never create any hurdle in this respect," The News quoted Holbrooke, as saying.
Apart from the trial of Musharraf, the other issues that were discussed included the abolition of the 17th Amendment, the Charter of Democracy, the Swat operation and the overall political situation of the country, besides the proposed expansion of the US embassy in Islamabad. (ANI)
