Now, racist leaflets target Africans in Australia!
Victoria, Aug 14 (ANI): After a spate of racist attacks on Indians in Australia, Africans seem to be the next target.
Leaflets were recovered from various parts in Victoria, warning residents of an influx of Africans moving to live in their city.
The leaflets claimed that local council had tried to sneak Sudanese refugee families into their city, who "will cause endless social terrorism" and bring "a primitive lawless tribal culture and a pack mentality" into the community, The News.com reports.
The leaflet also said that natives of Sudanese origin are 400 to 800 per cent more likely to commit a serious crime than an Australian national and claimed that "many of them are infected with AIDS".
Meanwhile, Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria (ECCV) chair Sam Afra has slammed these leaflets, which has no clear author but includes links to anti-African and Muslim websites, as "racist scare mongering" of no substance.
Mildura Mayor Glenn Milne, from where spates of leaflets were recovered, said that the claims were sad and disappointing, as groups of people from a broad range of backgrounds move into the community.
"Mildura has a history of welcoming immigrants since it began," said Milne. (ANI)
