Islamabad, Aug.14 (ANI): Pakistan Parliamentary Committee on National Security has termed the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud's elimination as a 'positive' development, but has criticized the use of US drones inside the territory.
"Although the killing of Baitullah Mehsud is positive in overall context of the war on terror, it cannot justify the US drone attacks inside Pakistan," committee chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said.
Rabbani said the use of drones by the United States inside Pakistan's geographical boundary in unacceptable.
"Although the security situation is improving because of drone attacks, even then they cannot be acceptable at any cost," he added.
Earlier, briefing the committee about the law and order situation in the region, North West Frontier Province (NWFP) chief minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti said the government is doing everything to ensure the safety of internally displaced people who have now started to return.
However, most of the committee members expressed dissatisfaction over the 'slow process of rehabilitation'.
They said they would soon be visiting the Swat and Malakand Divisions to monitor the work being done, the Dawn reports. (ANI)
