Swine flu scare: PIL seeks ban on festivities
New Delhi, Aug 12: As Swine Flu panic continues in the state, the PIL (Public Interest Litigation) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to ban festivals of Ganesh Utsav and Dahi Mandi in Maharashtra in order to prevent Swine Flu spread.
The petition filed by advocate Dilip Anna Saheb Taur accused the government of not taking effective measures for protection against the deadly virus.
PIL said, "A large congregation of people, at a time when the government it not prepared to fight swine flu would spread the pandemic." The Apex Court has declined an early hearing on the matter.
