US embassy employee who pointed gun at Islamabad cop may be deported
Islamabad, Aug. 8 (ANI): Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit has said that the US embassy employee, who had pointed gun at a Pakistani cop in Islamabad, could be deported after being declared persona non grata.
"The US diplomat who has pointed gun at Pakistani police officer can be deported after declaring him persona non grata," The Nation quoted Basit, as saying.
On Wednesday, the American security official had exchanged harsh words with SHO Secretariat Hakim Khan when he was passing by the Embassy along with his family.
After an exchange of harsh words, the US security official pointed gun at Khan. However, private security officials at the embassy intervened and calmed the situation.
Khan said the US security official not only abused him, but he also uttered humiliating words against Pakistan.
Pakistan's Interior Ministry will soon receive an inquiry report about the incident and after having a thorough review of the matter, decide either to summon the US Ambassador or any other Embassy official to lodge a protest over the incident.
Meanwhile, the US embassy officials are negotiating with their Pakistani counterparts in the hope of resolving the issue amicably. (ANI)
