Patna, Aug 7: A local court issued notice to former Chief Minister Rabri Devi for allegedly using defamatory words against state JD(U) president, MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh.

The court of sub-divisional magistrate Anil Kumar Jha asked Rabri to appear before the court on Aug 31 and explain about the issue. A statement of Singh was recorded by the court on May 25.

Singh alleged that Rabri used defamatory words against him while making an election speech on Apr 5, 2009 at Garkha in Saran district during the parliamentary elections.

He said Rabri described him as the brother-in-law of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He also said false and defamatory statement not only damaged his reputation but spotted the image of the CM. He also alleged that Rabri's utterances were widely reported by the media.
