JK police denied bail in Shopian case

Srinagar, Aug 6: The Jammu Kashmir district and sessions judge on Thursday, Aug 6 rejected the bail application of the four police officers, who were accused of destroying evidence in the rape and double murder of two women in Shopian in Jammu Kashmir.

Judge Syed Tauqeer Ahmed, rejecting the bail application said that there was prima facie evidence against the accused. He also said, "DNA profiling of the accused was yet to be completed and if released, they might interfere with the investigation."

Earlier, on Jul 24, the Supreme Court had directed the two police officers who were accused in the case to seek bail from the district and sessions judge.
