Lahore, Aug 5 (ANI): Pakistani fast bowler Abdur Rauf has said that he is going through a period of rest before the training camp for the Champions Trophy squad commences.
Rauf was part of Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka and featured in two of their Tests. He took five wickets on test debut.
"I'm taking a break and a having rest at the moment, before the training camps commence for the Champions Trophy squad," PakPassion.net quoted Rauf, as saying.
"I think it's important to recharge the batteries and to get some rest before the hard work of the training camps starts," he added.
Rauf highlighted that he had begun with some light training in preparation for the tournament and expressed confidence that he would be selected in the team.
"I'm doing some light training at the moment at the NCA, but nothing too strenuous and am hoping that I can give some good performances in the trial matches before the Champions Trophy and get selected for the Champions Trophy,"
The 30 year-old further said that he had considered taking part in county cricket following him not being included in the squad for one-day tournament in Sri Lanka.
"County cricket was an option, but there are only a few weeks of the county season left, so the timing meant that it wasnt looking too promising," he added. (ANI)
