Delhi Police arrests wanted criminal from West Delhi
New Delhi, Aug.5 (ANI): Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a dreaded criminal following a gun battle from West Delhi.
Sandeep Chaitanya, the man wanted in five cases of murders and other crimes in Delhi and adjoining areas, was arrested from the densely populated Rohini area of the city.
Chaitanya was also carrying a bounty of 50,000 rupees on his head.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Delhi police surrounded a house where Chaitanya was hiding and arrested him after exchanging several rounds of fire.
Police claimed to have recovered a 0.9 mm pistol and other ammunition from his possession.
"We have recovered a 9 mm pistol and 37 live cartridges of various bores including of .9mm and 7.65 mm," Atul Katiyar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer Delhi) told reporters.
"He (the arrested criminal) was involved in five murders including two double murder cases. Besides this, he is also wanted in three attempt to murder cases in various police stations," Katiyar said
Police have started interrogating Chaitanya to find out about his associates, officials said. (ANI)
