Obama's 'Beer Summit' has Harvard professor and cop acting like 'best buds'
Cambridge, Aug 3 (ANI): President Barack Obama's initiative to host a 'Beer Summit' for a black Harvard professor and a Cambridge, Massachusetts, cop has led to the latter two acting like best buds these days, sharing light moments with each other, and making plans to enjoy time and to go to a Red Sox game together.
Professor Henry Louis Gates and Sergeant James Crowley are an item these days, and few will realize that not too long ago, they were eyeballing each other outside Gates's home.
Gates said he was initially apprehensive about coming face to face with Sgt. Crowley last Thursday in the White House, where President Barack Obama had invited the two men to patch up their differences over beers.
However, the uncomfortable situation eased out when the two men shook hands and the jokes started rolling.
"I said to him, 'I would have sworn you were 6 feet, 8 inches tall,'" said Gates.
"He said, 'I used to be, but I've lost 2 to 3 feet over the last two weeks'," he added.
Gates and Crowley also discussed plans to take in a Celtics or Red Sox game or have their families meet up for a meal.
"I offered to get his kids into Harvard if he doesn't arrest me again," said Gates. (ANI)
