New Delhi, Aug 3: Although the private airlines called off their Aug 18 strike, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on Monday, Aug 3 ruled out any kind of financial bailout from them or for national carrier Air India.

"There is no question of a financial bailout for private airlines. We are not even bailing out Air India, which is owned by the government," Patel told to reporters.

He also said that the government understands the problems faced by the aviation industry, adding, "But we will try to help them (the carriers), in every possible way as it is an important sector."

Earlier on Sunday, Aug 2, facing the threat of strict government action, private airlines called off their proposed Aug 18 strike, which gave relief to air travellers.
