Bangalore, Aug 3(ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister B. S.Yeddyurappa will preside over all party meeting on Monday in the hope of arriving at a consensus on the unveiling of a statue of Tamil saint-poet Thiruvallar in Bangalore.

Yedyurappa has invited the presidents of all political parties, leaders of opposition in both houses of the state legislature, intellectuals, writers, and pro-Kannada activists.

The State Government had decided to organize the unveiling of the Thiruvallar statue on August 9 in Hulasoor. It was also decided to unveil the statue of Kannada poet Sarvagna in Chennai on August 14.

Pro-Kannada organizations have objected to the location of the Sarvagna statue. They are also demanding that the Tamil Nadu Government withdraw its petition against the granting of classical language status to Kannada, and to stop all construction work of the disputed Hogenakal hydro electricity project.

Yeddyurappa said the afinal decision would be taken after the all party meeting.

He is also expected to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi. (ANI)
