Sitamarhi (Bihar), Aug 3 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an aerial survey of Sitamarhi district where the swollen Bagmati river breached its embankment.
The river breached its embankment in Sitamarhi district in a stretch of 40-50 metres at Tilakrajpur area on Saturday, inundating vast tracts across a number of villages.
The floodwaters have submerged one of the national highways passing through the State.
Nitish Kumar said efforts were on to control the damage.
"The irrigation department has started the work at the place where the cracks appeared on the dam and on the roads where the water has over flown at 2-3 places, the provision of regulating the traffic has been made. Besides this the affected families will be provided with relief material," he added.
Flood victims accused the officials of turning a blind eye towards their plight.
"Our homes are under water and so far we have not got any relief material," said Ram Kirpal, a resident. (ANI)
