Ahmedabad, Aug 2: Two police constables have been arrested for alleged involvement with bootleggers who had supplied the illicit Liquor which claimed more than 130 lives in Ahmedabad.
A crime official said, "We have arrested two police constables Ranjit Dabhi and Baldev Rabari." Police sources said that the two constables had a nexus with the bootleggers who supplied liquor to Kantodiavass in Majoor Gam area.
Police sources also said, "Dabhi and Rabari were posted at Kagdapith police station during the hooch tragedy under whose jurisdiction Majoor Gam area falls. They were later transferred."
Both of them were presented before a magistrate who remanded them to seven days police custody. With the arrest of the two policemen, the total number of people booked for hooch-related cases has risen to 27.
