Chandigarh, Aug 2(ANI): Chandigarh police on Sunday arrested a woman in possession of counterfeit currency worth Rs four lakh in Punjab.
Police detained Savinder Kaur, who is suspected to be an ISI agent, from Amritsar and seized fake Indian currency in the denomination of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of Chandigarh (DSP) J S Khera, who supervised the seizure operations, said that on the basis of the information provided by her arrested associates, they arrested the woman.
"The woman was arrested from Amritsar. On the basis of the disclosure statement made by her associates who were arrested earlier, we arrested her. We seized cash worth Rs four lakh from her," said J S Khera.
When asked about the woman's association with ISI of Pakistan, Khera said that looking at the quality of the currency, it couldn't be ruled that she has associations in Pakistan.
"The woman said that she got the currency from Pakistan. The currencies are of fine quality and it's hard to make out the difference between the original ones from the fakes. All this indicates that she must be associated with the agents in Pakistan," J S Khera added. (ANI)
