Jeddah, Aug 1 (ANI): Mazen Abdul Jawad, the divorced Saudi father of four who appeared on Lebanese television and provoked controversy by describing his sexual exploits, has been arrested by the police.
Jawad was picked up from his rented apartment in Al-Na'eem District here on Friday morning along with two men who had participated with him in the satellite TV channel program telecast two weeks ago.
Major General Ali Al-Ghamdi, the Director of Jeddah Police, said Jawad would be referred to the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution (CIP).
Lt. Colonel Sulaiman Al-Mutaiwee', acting spokesperson of Jeddah Police, said Jawad was fingerprinted, photographed and handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Saudi Gazette quoted Al-Ghamdi as saying that the police searched Jawad's house during the arrest and obtained the videocassette of the TV program, which would be tested to verify whether the voice is Jawad's.
A neighbor said Jawad had been living in the rented apartment for years. He stayed on in the apartment after his wife and their four children left him, the neighbor added.
Abdul-Jawad explained how he uses the Bluetooth function on his cellphone to try to pick up Saudi women, who are forbidden to mix with or reveal their faces to men who are not relatives.
He has publicly apologised for the show, saying that the producers had tricked him into some of his account and promised not to reveal his name or show his face. (ANI)
