London, July 31 (ANI): An average 50-year-old Briton is healthier than those half their age, a new study has found.
Researchers for nutrition firm Herbalife quizzed 4,000 Britons on diet and lifestyle, and found that a typical 25-year-old consumes more than 2,300 calories a day, exercises only three times a week and eats 12 types of junk food a month, reports The Sun.
The average 50-year-old, however, absorbs only 1,990 calories, does at least four forms of exercise and has only one item of junk food a week.
When it came to reasons for not exercising, 36 per cent of 25-year-olds said they did not have enough time, against 22 per cent of over 50s.
Company spokesman Neil Spiers said: "The results will surprise most as it's natural to think that the younger you are, the fitter you are.
"But it's great to think the older generation is showing youngsters the way when it comes to healthier living." (ANI)
