Washington, July 30 (ANI): US President Barack Obama, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates and the police officer who arrested him, Sgt. Joseph Crowley are set to meet Thursday for a beer, snubbing the caller whose call to 911 led to the arrest of the Afro-American professor.
A lawyer for the woman who called 911 leading to a racially charged controversy over the arrest of Gates is suggesting her client is being snubbed by not being invited to a White House on Thursday to join the president.
"The highly trained guys who reacted badly are getting together tomorrow for a beer at the White House, and that is a good thing," said Wendy Murphy, attorney for 911 caller Lucia Whalen.
"The one person whose actions are exemplary will be at work tomorrow in Cambridge. I don't know, maybe it's a guy thing," Politico quoted Murphy, as saying.
However, at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, Whalen said she hadn't given much consideration to the White House sit-down.
"I honestly have not even thought about that," she said. "I've been emotional."
Whalen said she was gratified by the release of 911 tapes showing she had not brought up race when reporting what she thought might be a break-in to Gates's home in Cambridge, Mass. (ANI)
