Bangalore, Jul 30: In what may come as a huge relief for the students in the IT stream, Infosys has announced that the company will start campus recruitments from Jan 2010.

In a CII meet, Chief Executive Officer and Managing director, Infosys technologies Limited, S Gopalakrishnan told reporters that expansion and recruitment will commence early next year based on the hopes that the economy will recover from the slump.

The economic slump has affected the IT industry the most and the giant, Infosys to fell prey to it. However, S Gopalakrishnan said that the IT and ITES industries would continue to grow in spite of the downturn.

Earlier, he had said that the company will be expanding to the Tier II cities of the country as soon as the economy revives. The company, however, has no immediate plans to expand activities in two tier cities in Andhra Pradesh.

The work on the campus at the SEZ has already begun and is expected to be complete by next year. This is being developed as the campus with over 10,000 employees in Hitech city was inadequate, he added.
