Metro mishap: Gammon India gets notice from HC

New Delhi, Jul 24: The Delhi High Court on Friday, Jul 24 issued notice to contractor, Gammon India on petition filed by the family of the deceased of Delhi Metro mishap seeking compensation.

Justice Rewa Khetrapal has directed the company to file its response by Aug 20 2009 when the matter will be taken up for further hearing.

The court passed a joint order after a petition filed by the family members of the four persons who lost their lives in the mishap. The petitioners also pleaded before the court that the family of the victims should get a compensation of Rs 50 lakh each while the injured should be given Rs 25 lakh each.

Six persons, including an engineer, were killed and 12 others injured when an under-construction Delhi Metro bridge collapsed on Jul 12 in south Delhi.
