New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor, during his five day visit to the US, has had meetings with met General David H Petraeus, Commander, US Central Command.
He was given a guard of honour at Whipple Field.
General Kapoor also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and held discussions on various bilateral and military issues with his counterpart General George W Casey Jr. and the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff committee, Admiral Mike Mullen.
The USA and India share common core values and have convergence of views and interests on many issues that affect the world order today.
The number of bilateral agreements signed between both countries in the recent past in diverse fields, including the civil nuclear deal, is a testimony to the strategic partnership that exists between the two. eneral Kapoor's visit to the United States comes at a time when bilateral relations are on an upswing.
His discussions have delved upon the Indo-US defence cooperation to include joint training and exercises, exchanges and military equipment cooperation. Discussions on contemporary strategic issues like the Af-Pak Policy and the security situation in South Asia were reviewed.
General Kapoor will also be visiting important training institutions and Operational headquarters to get a glimpse of the organization, doctrinal concepts and training facilities for operational deployment of US Army in a global framework. (ANI)
